Inspired by the wild hot sounds of 1930s/40s Harlem and Chicago jazz, The Big Five have established themselves as Berlin’s most authentic swing-era combo.
Combining a driving rhythm section, a fiery horn-led frontline and dynamic song-arrangements, this international band makes a deep-dive into the lesser-known repertoire of the Swing Golden Age - as well as a strong emphasis on original compositions. Ranging in size from the core quintet to the full septet lineup.

From the depths of the Warsaw dance scene comes the fresh and enigmatic Mermaid Swing Band.
Shrouded in myth, nobody is quite sure where the band came from. We know for sure, that it stopped in Warsaw and decided to stay. Dancers noticed a strange, out-of-nowhere band creating waves of highly energetic and positive music, luring them in, making them jerk, hop and dance wildly.
Some say that they have successfully caught the band at Warsaw's Mermaid Swing Festival, and once they heard their sounds, they fell blindly in love. Rumor has it, that the band is made up of five, alluring musicians, who sing sweetly and play a variety of musical instruments including the lyre, flute, and water organ.
It has also been said, that on this occasion they will be joined by an unknown number of human-like beings playing other instruments.
Put together some cayenne pepper, a bunch of oregano, thyme, garlic and sweet pepper to recall the taste of Louisiana. Mix the washboard, banjo, guitar, saxophone, double bass, violin and accordion to discover its sound.
The Cajun Spices is a unique combination of passion for music and swing dancing being the first band in Poland created by swing dancers and for swing dancers.
The band’s inspiration is music performed by legends of jazz from 20’s and 30’s, the gypsy jazz and the sound of today’s New Orleans street musicians and busking bands.
